Commercial Flights to Loreto: Options to fly into Loreto are limited, but Alaska offers direct flights daily from Los Angeles.  From Loreto, we can help arrange ground transportation to Laguna San Ignacio.  Please see TRIPS section for dates of available shared transport to/from Loreto. Road trip – Fly into Loreto, La Paz or San Jose del Cabo and rent a car. The lagoon is about an hour from San Ignacio town, a desert oasis founded as an 18th century mission.  Loreto is about four hours south-east and the picturesque drive takes you through the French-founded mining town of Santa Rosalia and through Sea of Cortez coastal towns such as Mulege. We can help you arrange side trips to see ancient cave paintings, the Spanish mission in San Javier, or blue whale watching trips from Loreto. La Paz is about 4 hours south of Loreto and offers many more flight options.
